| DAY 1 |
NAIROBI - LAKE BOGORIA - LAKE BARINGO
The descent into the Great Rift Valley, shortly after leaving Nairobi,
offers spectacular views of lakes Naivasha and Elementaita before
Lake Nakuru is reached. A picnic lunch is taken enroute and soon after
passing Lake Bogoria our destination of Lake Baringo is within sight. |
| DAY 2 |
LAKE BARINGO - MARALAL
Early morning bird watching along the beautiful lakeshore or perhaps
an optional boat excursion on the placid lake. After leaving the lake,
the route passes through entrancing scenery as the Rift Valley escarpment
is climbed. Mararal is reached at lunchtime. In the afternoon explore the
little game sanctuary which surrounds Mararal Safari Lodge where the night
is spent. |
| DAY 3 |
MARARAL - LAKE TURKANA
An early morning departure is necessary for the long day's journey
to Lake Turkana, the Jade Sea. The route passes from cedar forest to near
desert but the views are always spectacular and there is some game to be
seen almost all the way. Reach Loyangulani in time for lunch. This is where
you will spend the night at Oasis Lodge. |
| DAY 4 |
LAKE TURKANA
A day is spent at leisure perhaps by the two pools fed by warm
springs or spend some time fishing for giant Nile Perch. Other optional
activities include a visit to the El Molo Village where Kenya's smallest
tribe is found. A second night is spent at the Oasis Lodge. |
| DAY 5 |
LAKE TURKANA - MARSABIT
An adventurous day's driving takes you north along the lakeside before
heading east across the barren waste of the Chalbi desert. After a picnic
lunch continue to Marsabit National Reserve superbly situated in the forest
on the peak of Mount Marsabit which rises from the desert floor.. |
| DAY 6 |
MARSABIT - SAMBURU
An early morning game drive through the forest trails and glades should
enable you to see the huge elephants for which Marsabit is so famous. Bufallo
are also common. After breakfast descend from the mountain , cross the
Kaisut desert and arrive at the Samburu Game Reserve in time for lunch. |
| DAY 7 |
SAMBURU - NAIROBI
The morning is spent game viewing and lunch is taken at the lodge
before leaving for Nairobi which is reached in the evening. |
