Day 01: Nairobi

 

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by our friendly representative who will be of any assistance. Our representative provides itinerary briefing. From the airport transfer to your city hotel.

Overnight at Hotel Boulevard Nairobi on bed and breakfast basis

Day 02: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, an early start for the drive north to Samburu on the south bank of the Uaso Nyiro River, down river from Archer’s Post. North of the Equator some of the animals and vegetation are a little different from those commonly found south. Elephant, black rhino, lion, buffalo and cheetah and the usual buck and antelopes are common to both north and south of the equator. However unfamiliar animals are the Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. There is also the long neck gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, and hunting dog. Crocodiles in the river can be seen from the lodge. The vegetation is usually dry grass with a few swampy patches. There is some forest cover along the Uaso Nyiro River and an abundance of doum palms. Meals and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge. (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 03: Samburu National Reserve

Another day in this harshly beautiful terrain where wildlife abound especially near the river which is their only source of drinking water. The Uaso Nyiro River flows gently through the dry landscape sustaining life in this harsh land. Shaba National Reserve is where the famous conservationist George Adamson did his research on lions. Lunch and an afternoon of leisure at the pool or another game drive in the late afternoon. Meals and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge. (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 04: Samburu – Aberdares National Park

After breakfast at your lodge, you will make the short trip to Aberdares National Park to arrive at Aberdares Country Club the base Hotel in time for Lunch. After lunch you will be transferred to the Ark. Visitors to procession of animals make their way to the water hole and saltlick which are floodlit later in the evening. Tea, coffee and bitings are constantly provided by the attentive staff. As the weather gets colder wood fires are lit, which makes the lodge warm enough to watch the activities of the animals at night. Dinner is served in a rustic dining room. Overnight at The Ark (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

You are also required to pack an overnight bag when you transfer to the Ark for the night.

Day 05: Aberdares – Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, depart to the base hotel in the hotel's vehicle for drop off. Your driver guide will be waiting for you at the base hotel. From here, drive heading south-western down the escarpment via the Cascading, 73m Thompson’s fall (now Nyahururu) route. You will make a brief stop to explore and take a few shots of this majestic natural phenomenon. The falls are named after the Scots explorer Joseph Thompson who was the first European to discover the falls in 1884 Afterwards; you will proceed down the escarpment to arrive at Lake Elementaita in time for lunch. After lunch, you will depart for Lake Nakuru for your afternoon game drive at this majestic and scenic park. Lake Nakuru is world famous for its bird’s spectacle with myriad of flamingos that thrive on the algae in that shallow alkaline lake, the endangered white rhino and so much more. Overnight at Lake Elementaita Sentrim Lodge (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

 

Day 06: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara

 

After breakfast at your lodge, depart driving on the floor of the rift valley past the dormant Mt. Longonot on the floor of the rift valley and further on past the Maasai town of Narok to arrive at Mara in time for Lunch. Maasai Mara National Reserve is the Northern extension of the Serengeti National Reserve. With rolling grass fields, the scenic reserve is home to the big five and with over 500 species of bird life species having been recorded it’s also a bird watchers haven. After lunch, you will embark on an afternoon game drive at this majestic and scenic reserve. Overnight at Sentrim Mara Camp (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 07: Maasai Mara Game Reserve

 

Enjoy an early morning game drive in this part of the Northern Serengeti Ecosystem is where the great wildebeest migration takes place. Months before the actual migration the herds ‘assemble’ in Serengeti in readiness for the crossing into Masai Mara. The plain is literally covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are commonplace. The migration, now declared the Seventh-wonder of the world takes place from end June to beginning October. Later in the afternoon proceed on another game drive. Overnight at Sentrim Mara Camp (Bed, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 08: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

After breakfast at your camp, drive back to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch (lunch will be at own). Afterwards, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta international Airport to arrive in time for your outbound international flight. (B)
